POLIDIOXANE (PDO) THREAD LIFT
The Thread Lift procedure is used to restructure and rejuvenate the face to achieve a result very similar to a surgical facelift, but without the need for actual surgery!
During the procedure specialised threads are introduced into the skin and subcutaneous tissue using fine needles. The advantages are twofold: to anchor the skin and tissue in a more youthful position; as well as stimulate a healing response to improve the skin's quality.
The Thread Lift procedure uses threads that consist of a specialised polydioxanone (PDO) material. PDO sutures are very safe and have been used for many years in general surgery. It is only recently that the healing properties of PDO threads on the skin and soft tissue have been harnessed. PDO has not only been shown to stimulate collagen production, but also that of elastin and hyaluronic acid. All of these compounds are pivotal in producing plump, youthful and healthy looking skin.
The PDO Thread Lift can be used to treat both vertical and horizontal wrinkles, to lift droopy skin, to soften marionette lines, to soften nasolabial lines, and to straighten and even the jawline, amongst other uses in the face. PDO Threads are quite versatile and their uses extend beyond just the face. The procedure may also be used in the neck to treat flabby skin and wrinkles, and can be used in the body to lift the bust and raise the buttocks.
During your consultation with one of our Aesthetic Medical Doctors your face and treatment areas will be assessed and an individualised treatment plan will be devised. The exact number and type of PDO Threads will be chosen based on the desired outcome. The procedure itself takes between 20-50 minutes depending on the area being treated. An immediate lifting effect will be seen once the threads have been placed, however the beneficial effects on the skin will continue to improve over the next 8-12 weeks resulting in a natural and youthful appearance.
